Maxim, the fast growing Cebu-headquartered motorcycle ride and food delivery service outside of Metro Manila, is expanding operations in the Albay-Legazpi area and the Naga City in the Bicol Region in addition to its growing presence in major urban and regional hubs in the country.
Andres Morales Jr., president of Maxim Rides & Food Delivery, said the expansion plan in the Bicol region is part of the company expansion in the near term. “These locations are part of our near-term expansion pipeline,” he said.
Morales, however, said that its broader development priority remains focused on major urban and regional hubs of the Philippines, including Manila, Cebu, Davao, Zamboanga, and other high-growth cities, making it the largest moto taxi operators outside of Metro Manila.
Meantime, Maxim is supporting its driver-partners through fuel vouchers distributed across the Philippines—including Lucena, General Santos, Roxas, Batangas, Bacolod, Cebu, Davao, and Iligan.
In celebration of International Taxi Driver Day on March 22, the motorcycle ride and food delivery firm shared insights into its growing community of driver-partners across the Philippines. The data highlights key trends and interesting characteristics of the individuals who help keep mobility and delivery services accessible in cities nationwide.
Interestingly, its platform data revealed that the most common first name among driver-partners is Jose, while the most common last name is Dela Cruz. The average age of driver-partners is around 35, reflecting a workforce largely composed of individuals in their most active working years. By age group, about 19 percent of driver-partners are 19-25 years old, 43 percent are 26-35, 29 percent are 36-50, and around 9 percent are 51 and above.
Motorcycles remain the most common mode of transportation, used by 79.6 percent of driver-partners due to their efficiency in navigating dense urban traffic. Autos account for 12.3 percent, while the remaining driver-partners use bicycles and trucks. Among vehicles, the most popular models include the Toyota Vios, Mitsubishi Mirage, Toyota Avanza, Mitsubishi Xpander, and Toyota Innova. Black is the most preferred vehicle color on the platform.
In terms of mobile usage, 76 percent of driver-partners access the platform through Android devices, while 24 percent use iOS. During the analyzed period, the number of driver-partners increased by approximately 45.3 percent, indicating steady market development and growing interest in platform-based mobility and delivery services. Maxim continues to support driver-partners through various initiatives while recognizing their important role in serving communities every day.
