DOE partners with Plexus to champion data-driven future for national energy plan

The Department of Energy (DOE) recently convened a high-level technical meeting with energy software and analytics experts from the Plexus team.

The collaboration focused on the latest advancements in the Philippine Energy Plan (PEP) modeling, a sophisticated framework designed to forecast, analyze, and secure the nation’s power sector development.

Through this ongoing partnership, Plexus is assisting the DOE in enhancing its capacity to regularly document, update, and publish highly accurate projections on the country’s rapidly evolving energy situation.

As the Philippines experiences rapid economic growth and rising energy demands, the meeting underscored a critical shared vision: the indispensable role of data-driven planning in building a reliable, resilient, and sustainable energy future.

By leveraging advanced simulation and modeling tools, the DOE can better anticipate future demand spikes, integrate higher shares of renewable energy, and mitigate potential supply disruptions.

  • Enhanced Modeling Accuracy: Integrating localized, real-time data into the PEP to create highly reliable, long-term power sector forecasts.

  • Regularized Documentation: Establishing a seamless, systematic pipeline for the DOE to document and update national energy projections.

  • Grid Resilience & Decarbonization: Simulating various policy scenarios to successfully transition the Philippines toward a cleaner energy mix without compromising grid stability.

  • “A resilient energy future for the Philippines cannot be built on guesswork. By strengthening our modeling capabilities with Plexus, the Department of Energy is ensuring that every policy, investment, and infrastructure decision we make is backed by rigorous, world-class data analytics,” the DOE said.
