Lorenzo Shipping Corp. (LSC), one of the country’s leading liner shipping companies, said it will cease active shipping operations and instead lease its assets to other operating firms.
“The Board of Directors approved a new plan of action on operations whereby the Company will transition from active shipping operations toward a business model focused on maximizing the value of its assets by strategically leasing them to other operating companies,” the company said in a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange on May 15, 2026.
Based on its disclosure, LSC said the transition is intended to strengthen revenue stability, preserve asset value, and ensure that the company and its management remain able to fulfill their obligations to all stakeholders during a time when various factors are critically impacting the domestic shipping industry.
The Board of Directors will endorse the plan to the stockholders for approval.
Based on its company profile, LSC owns and operates a fleet of four vessels and operates three more vessels under a transport service contract. These vessels are deployed to key ports in Manila, the Visayas, and Mindanao. LSC also owns various equipment and facilities to handle customers’ cargoes, including land-based equipment such as forklifts, top lifts, and trucks, as well as container yards and warehouses in its branches and agencies. LSC is engaged solely in domestic inter-island cargo liner services.
LSC markets its services through a network of seven branches in Cebu, Davao, General Santos, Cotabato, Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro, and Bacolod, as well as two agencies in Zamboanga and Dumaguete. LSC’s Manila operations, under its corporate office, handle all inbound and outbound volume in Manila.
Incorporated on October 17, 1972, by the Go family primarily to engage in the domestic inter-island cargo handling business, LSC’s business focus has evolved from being a break-bulk cargo carrier to a fully containerized cargo shipping company.
