The Department of Energy (DOE) is taking significant strides toward establishing the proposed DOE Energy Academy, recently hosting a joint coordination and knowledge-sharing session with key government education and training institutions.
Represented by Assistant Secretary Agustus Cesar A. Navarro, the DOE met with officials from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) to gather insights and best practices to guide the Academy’s creation.
The exploratory discussions focused on core institutional pillars, including governance structures, institutional development, quality assurance standards, and successful collaborative models utilized by established government learning entities.
The initiative is part of the DOE’s ongoing commitment to enhance capacity-building and specialized education tailored to the energy sector. By learning from the experiences of CHED, TESDA, and DAP, the DOE aims to craft a robust institutional framework and implementation roadmap. This collaborative approach will ensure the upcoming Energy Academy effectively addresses the dynamic needs of the Philippine energy industry while seamlessly complementing existing national training programs.
