MCIA experiencing domestic passenger traffic volume decline for 3 consecutive months 

The Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) has been experiencing declines in domestic passenger volume for three consecutive months, while international passenger volume showed positive growth.

Based on its data as of August this year, MCIA showed a negative growth in domestic passenger volume of 2 percent in August, 5 percent in July, and 8 percent in June.

In August, there were only 663,984 passengers, comprising of 330,004 incoming and 333,980 outgoing. The previous month, July, MCIA handled 676,682 passengers  with 338,801 incoming and 337,881 outgoing.

In June, MCIA registered a total of 709,379 passengers with 351,170 incoming and 358,209 outgoing.

Meantime, the international passengers performed better with 8 percent increase in August and 19 percent in July from a 4 percent decrease in June.

In August, the MCIA data showed there were 278,145 passengers, including 130,304 incoming and 147,841 outgoing. The airport also registered a total of 258,703 international passengers in July. There were 135,576 incoming passengers and 123,127 outgoing for the month.

In June, there were 217,954 passengers of which 111,753 were incoming and 106,201 were outgoing.
