SHANGHAI, China—Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ma. Cristina A. Roque met with Mr. Larry Chan, Chairman, Liwayway China, Mr. Roy Yip, Chairman, AGL Group and Mr. Allen Wang, Managing Director, AGL Group to discuss their partnership project together with Joyvio Freshcall to establish a coconut processing facility in the Philippines. The meeting was held on May 23 in Shanghai, China and organized by the Philippine Trade and Investment Center-Shanghai.
According to Mr. Larry Chan, the group has been visiting the Philippines for over a year to identify the first location of their planned coconut processing facility. Mr. Chan announced that they are now working on setting up their first facility in Gensan. Once operational, the facility will produce a variety of food and non-food products which will be distributed all over China through the networks of the 3 companies.
Mr. Chan also expressed interest in exploring opportunities to use Philippine agri products like ube, pili nuts and specialty coffee as ingredients for their products distributed in China.
