Department of Energy earns unmodified audit opinion from COA

Department of Energy (DOE) has received an Unmodified Audit Opinion from the Commission on Audit (COA) for Calendar Year 2025, affirming that the Department’s financial statements are fairly presented, in all material respects, in accordance with applicable government accounting standards.

The Unmodified Audit Opinion, the highest opinion that may be issued by COA on an agency’s financial statements, reflects the DOE’s continued commitment to transparency, accountability, and sound public financial management in the performance of its mandate.

The audit result underscores the Department’s sustained efforts to strengthen internal controls, improve financial management practices, and ensure the prudent and responsible use of public resources. It likewise demonstrates the DOE’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of institutional governance while delivering programs and services that support the country’s energy security and development objectives.

As the agency responsible for formulating and implementing policies to ensure a secure, reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy future for the country, the DOE recognizes that effective stewardship of public funds is essential to advancing its mandate and maintaining public trust.

The Department also expressed its appreciation to the Commission on Audit for its guidance and recommendations, which continue to support the enhancement of government systems, processes, and accountability mechanisms.

“Receiving an Unmodified Audit Opinion affirms our commitment to transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of public resources,” said Energy Secretary Sharon S. Garin.

“This recognition reflects the collective dedication of the men and women of the Department to uphold the highest standards of public service. As we pursue reforms and initiatives that strengthen the country’s energy security, we remain committed to ensuring that every public resource entrusted to us is managed with integrity, prudence, and accountability,” she added.

The DOE remains steadfast in its mission to serve the Filipino people through sound governance, responsible resource management, and the effective implementation of programs that support national development and long-term energy resilience.
