DOE Sec. Garin outlines strategic energy resilience roadmaps at FICCI forum

Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Sharon S. Garin emphasized the critical link between robust energy infrastructure and long-term economic stability during the recent Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce Philippines, Inc. (FICCI) Forum.

Speaking to a gathering of business leaders and industry stakeholders at the forum, titled “Powering Profit in a Volatile World: Energy Strategies Amid Global Disruption,” Secretary Garin detailed the government’s comprehensive approach to safeguarding Philippine businesses against global market fluctuations.

“Resilience is not merely a safeguard against disruptions; it is a fundamental driver of competitiveness, stability, and long-term economic growth,” Secretary Garin stated.

To mitigate the impacts of an increasingly uncertain global landscape, the DOE is actively driving several core initiatives aimed at fortifying the national power sector:

  • Accelerating Renewable Energy: Expanding the green energy mix to reduce reliance on imported fossil fuels and stabilize power costs.

  • Grid Modernization: Upgrading the nation’s power grid to improve reliability, reduce transmission losses, and integrate new clean energy sources.

  • Promoting Energy Efficiency: Implementing demand-side management strategies to help industries lower operational costs and reduce total carbon footprints.

  • Strengthening Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs): Fostering deeper collaboration with the private sector to fast-track critical infrastructure investments.

The DOE continues to advocate for and support collaborative platforms like the FICCI Forum. By bridging the gap between government policy and private sector execution, the Department aims to cultivate an environment where a secure, reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy future directly fuels Philippine economic progress.
