PHILEXPORT backs BIR tax relief for micro businesses

The Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc. (PHILEXPORT) has expressed its strong support for the Bureau of Internal Revenue’s (BIR) new One-Time Tax Abatement Program for Micro Enterprises, calling it a vital lifeline for the country’s small business sector.

The initiative allows qualified micro-enterprises to settle outstanding tax obligations under more favorable terms. PHILEXPORT noted that the program eases heavy financial burdens while actively encouraging businesses to transition into the formal economy.

“Many micro-enterprises continue to face operational and financial challenges as they strive to recover and grow,” said PHILEXPORT President Sergio R. Ortiz-Luis Jr. “The tax abatement program offers these businesses a practical pathway toward regularizing their tax status, strengthening their capacity to expand operations.”

By clearing unresolved liabilities, the program enables entrepreneurs to refocus their resources where they matter most: productivity, employment generation, and business growth.

PHILEXPORT commended the BIR’s proactive, taxpayer-friendly approach to balancing national revenue generation with the economic realities faced by small scale entrepreneurs. The organization reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with the bureau to improve the ease of doing business and foster sustainable, inclusive growth across the Philippine export and business sectors.
